PhD Paulina Barczyszyn-Madziarz
Dr. Paulina Barczyszyn-Madziarz is Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Communication and Journalism at the Institute of Political Sciences at the University of Wrocław. She is a graduate of political sciences and economics. She received her Ph.D. in social sciences in the discipline of political sciences from the University of Wrocław with a dissertation on “Polish, Russian and Swedish journalists and their vision of the profession”. Her dissertation was awarded a distinction.
She participated in few international research projects, including Media Accountability and Transparency in Europe (MediaAct) (2010-2013) financed by the European Commission 7th Framework Programme and Journalism in change – professional journalistic cultures in Poland, Russia and Sweden (2011-2014) financed by the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies. During the doctoral studies she also took part in the project titled Implication of Social Media Use (2016) and cooperated with the European Journalism Observatory (2014-2017). She is a member of the Polish Communication Association.
Her research interests focus on political communication, media systems, and journalistic culture. She is the author of articles (e.g. in Central European Journal of Communication) and chapters of monographs in the field of journalism studies for instance in Series Studies in Communication and Politicsof Peter Lang Edition or Series Communication and Media published by Wrocław University Press. She is a member of the Editorial Team of Central European Journal of Communication and she is coordinator of the database of CEJC.
